ADULT PSYCHIATRIC EVALUATIONS
CHILD/ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRIC EVALUATIONS
Dr. Palvai performs psychiatric evaluations for adults suffering from a broad range of mental illnesses, such as anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. She understands the nuances of working with older teens on the cusp of adulthood, and young adults who would achieve better outcomes by working with a psychiatrist trained in child and adolescent psychiatry.
Dr. Palvai performs psychiatric evaluations for children and adolescents aged 5 to 18. While ADHD, autism, anxiety, and depression are the most common reasons to seek psychiatric care in this age group, she treats a full range of psychiatric conditions.
In adolescents, she recognizes the importance of screening for emerging bipolar disorder or schizophrenia before these conditions present fully. Dr. Palvai takes great care in her diagnostic formulations for adolescents, knowing this is a particularly difficult time for young people and that psychiatric symptoms often interact with teenage stressors to present a difficult clinical picture.
SCHOOL/SAFETY PSYCHIATRIC EVALUATIONS
Educators and parents trust Dr. Palvai to conduct a comprehensive evaluation for students dealing with school avoidance behavior, hyperactivity, depression, or other conditions. These evaluations are often done to ensure the child does not present a danger to others in school, or to determine appropriate support services. When requested, she also provides a comprehensive report.
It is Dr. Palvai’s philosophy is that no one should be treated unnecessarily with medications. However, medications can be life saving when used appropriately. She makes every effort to only prescribe when necessary and follow up closely to monitor progress and side effects.
